TOTAL BODY WORKOUT

BODYPUMP™, the original LES MILLS™ barbell class, is a form of weight training that will sculpt, tone, and strengthen your entire body. Focusing on low weight loads and high repetition movements, you’ll burn fat, gain strength, and quickly produce lean-body muscle conditioning. This program is based on “The Rep Effect,” a scientifically proven LES MILLS formula that exhausts muscles using light weights, while performing high repetitions. This is the secret to developing lean athletic muscle without the need for heavy weights. You’ll feel the burn and leave class with a feeling of accomplishment.

A TYPICAL CLASS

Our Y’s certified instructors coach you through the scientifically proven moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation, and great music! All fitness levels are welcome. Every class begins with a warm-up using only light weights. Your instructor guides you through the main portion of the workout including squats, presses, lifts, and curls as you focus on each of the major muscle groups to strengthen, tone, and define your entire body. You determine the level you’ll work at by choosing the appropriate weights. Class finishes, accompanied by down tempo music, with stretches to finish the workout and help reduce the risk of muscle soreness or injury.

LES MILLS BODYPUMP™ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do I need for a BODYPUMP™ class?
A: All you need is comfortable workout clothes, supportive shoes, a water bottle, and a sweat towel. During the class you’ll use a specialized weight bar, weight plates, and a step – all supplied by the Y.

Q: How strong do I need to be?
A: BODYPUMP™ instructors provide options to suit everyone. It’s a good idea to start with really light weights or even just a bar. Start slowly with just one to two classes a week and build up from four or five tracks to a full class. You’ll find your fitness and strength improve over a number of sessions.

Q: How often should I do a BODYPUMP™ class?
A: BODYPUMP™ will really challenge all of your major muscle groups so we recommend you do no more than two to three classes a week, and make sure you have a day off in between. Add two to three cardio classes into the mix and you’ll shape and tone your body in no time.
